Winter
The ski slopes and snow trails are calling your name! Whether you’re a downhill or cross-country skier, a snowboarder, tobogganer or hiker – our hotel is the perfect point of departure for all winter sports activities.
Our excursion top tips:
Jungfraujoch
The highlight of any visit to Switzerland is the train trip up to the Jungfraujoch, at 3454 metres the highest-altitude railway station in Europe. This one-day Alpine excursion takes you to a spectacular scenic vantage point – eternal ice and snow guaranteed! Must-see attractions include the Sphinx observation hall and terrace, the Ice Palace and walking plateau.
Snowshoe trekking
The snowshoe trail starts from the Hotel Wetterhorn in Grindelwald. Between the hotel and the small kiosk, the circuit leads across snow-covered fields in the direction of Weidli. After only a few minutes, wonderful views extend over the winter sports area of Grindelwald First, the Schynige Platte and the Grosse Scheidegg. At Weidli, the trail branches off to the right (eastwards). With views of the north wall of the Wetterhorn and the eastern flank of the Eiger, the trail leads back to the starting point. This trail is suitable for beginners.
Night tobogganing on the Eiger Run
When the sun goes down on the ski slopes, discover the delights of an unmissable after-dark experience – tobogganing down the illuminated Eiger Run. In the evening, Wengernalpbahn trains operate at almost half-hourly intervals from the Brandegg middle station to Alpiglen.
