Summer

500 kilometres of hiking trails, 160 kilometres of mountain bike trails, mountain railways, aerial cableways, theme trails, adventure sports, climbing, high-Alpine tours, waterfalls, mountain lakes – and best of all, spectacular panoramic views of the Jungfrau Region.

Our excursion top tips:

Männlichen – Kleine Scheidegg
A fabulous high-Alpine but easy panoramic trail leads from the Männlichen area (2222 metres) to the Kleine Scheidegg (2061 metres) in about one and a half hours. You hike always facing the majestic Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau, with views extending over mountain pastures down to the Grindelwald Valley. The trail continues south along the eastern flank of the Tschuggen, past the lower slopes of the Lauberhorn ridge. From there it’s only a short distance to the Kleine Scheidegg.

First – Bachalpsee – First
This is the classic hike in the First region, offering ever-changing landscape and easy Alpine walking for young and old. The 6-seater aerial gondola takes you up to the First summit station (2167 metres) with its spectacular panoramic views. From here the trail leads to one of the region’s most scenic excursion destinations – Lake Bachalp, its crystal-clear waters set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Bernese Alps. The hike takes approximately two and a half hours.

Summer tobogganing on Pfingstegg
Pfingstegg (1391 metres) can be reached either on foot in approximately one hour, or by aerial gondola. From the summit, views extend to the surrounding Alpine summits and to Grindelwald far below. A popular attraction for the young and young-at-heart is the Pfingstegg summer toboggan run, which starts behind the summit station and operates daily when the weather is dry. The Grindelwald Visitor’s Card entitles holders to a price reduction on the aerial gondola.
